We finally did it - Wood Ring Project!

the raw wood before treatment

Two tone jewelry really looks wonderful

the wood natural grain enhance the beauty of the ring
All the while I think wood should be pair with metal to enhance its grain beauty as well as to make it more elegant. We were planning to make something out from wood only the matter of time. Finally there came this  lovely lady same "taste" as us who want to make the special wedding for her future husband.
I personally prefer Ebony wood but the colour is to dark for the customer.
So Chin went to source for different local hard wood and finally settle with "Chengal". This is a kind of wood with rich resin which means more "tahan lasak" to water. We did some treatment on the wood before going for setting. Chin broke 3 pieces of wood rings before succeed. To enhance the wood grain texture, we applied some wax on it. The wax will also act as a protector to the wood.

Why Chengal hard wood ?
Chengal wood is one of the hardest wood found in Malaysia. It comes with densities of 800 to 1,120 kg per cubic metre at 15%, moisture content. It is naturally durable, containing substances which repel wood-destroying agents. It can safely be used without preservative treatment in all climates. Main uses are in heavy construction and flooring, railway sleepers, door and window frames.
On top of that, every piece of Chengal Wood Carving retain the value over the years, because  it is a piece of art work, not just a piece of wood.

Personalized Name Pin

Material: 9K/350 Gold (Suasa)
Stones: 4 x 1.75 mm diamonds

Material: 22K/916 Gold
Stone: 4 x 1.5 mm cubic zirco
suasa is for man and 916 is for woman

Spring and parts are all handmade by Chin

Another very urgent assignment that has to be deliver within 5 days. The piercing name pins are for Millionaire Award of www.ads4bucks.com's top performing members. I would say the tough part of this deal is the design confirmation process. Pin dimension, fonts type and letter positioning were not sure until the last minute.  The letter were as small as 3mm and the holes were 0.2mm tiny. The different fonts make gave an intricate texture and make the pin very unique.

"Suasa" & Palladium Silver Puzzle Rings

Did I say I love my job? If yes, then I would like to repeat that again. Especially when delivering to the client and observing their facial expression, what a reward!
This puzzle ring got no other choice besides handmade and the time was short (As usual...).
Did I say I admire my husband-Chin, especially his working attitude. I have got 100% confident on him when some challenging project need with deadline. He worked with tears and sweat for three days to complete. This is his first time on handling "Suasa" (he pronounce it as susah) - 14K Yellow Gold.
This is a young Malay lady's wedding gift to her future husband. She planed to split the gift into two. The 1st ring will be given out during the engagement ceremony and the 2nd one will be on the wedding day. The original design of the ring cost about USD 4250 but she got a custom made one with the special "F" font attached that cost only RM1800.
The photo was taken in the night,(the night before the engagement ceremony ) and the colors of "suasa" appears to be darker. The actual color looks perfect similar to 18K yellow gold.
This is another miles stone in jewelry making for both of us namely : new material testing and new design making i.e. puzzle ring.
